The Summer Film School is not cancelled! The festival is cut short to six days, and instead of its usual dates it will be held on August 7–12, 2020. The decision was made upon mutual agreement between the festival organisers, the Ministry of Culture, and the town of Uherské Hradiště.
“I’m glad that we managed to stick to our vision. We are heading towards making the 46. SFS real this summer! With regard to all hygiene and safety measures, it is already clear that this year is going to be slightly different. But I strongly believe that this edition will never be forgotten and that the atmosphere in screening halls will be much warmer and friendlier. We are going to be very cautious and responsible to our visitors, guests, partners and town citizens to celebrate our beloved festival with health and love. We are going to cooperate with the town, Ministry of Culture, regional hygiene station and other key institutions. Let’s keep our fingers crossed to make our plans come true. We are looking forward to meeting you this summer again.”
– Radana Korená,
Head of Summer Film School Uherské Hradiště and Association of Film Clubs
“This year’s Summer Film School will have my support in whatever way. However, it is vital to abide by all safety measures. It will be really hard to prepare and organise the festival in an alternative form and date. I appreciate the enormous efforts of the festival organisers. We have been in close contact and we try to find the best possible ways of making the festival happen.”
– Stanislav Blaha,
Mayor of Uherské Hradiště
“We should start getting back to our normal lives, and cultural events are an evitable part of it. Provided that the epidemic situation doesn’t get worse, the permitted number of visitors of social and cultural events should raise to 500. By the end of May, we should be able to say how many people can attend summer festivals. And with such potential numbers we could potentially see some interesting cultural events.””
– Lubomír Zaorálek,
Minister of Culture of the Czech Republic
Ticket presale will start at the beginning of July. The first revealed section: Terra Festivalis: Israel. The festival will also pre-premiere Oscar-nominated Corpus Christi.
